Sony hikes price of PS5 in Europe, Japan, and more
Sony hikes price of PS5 In the UK, Europe, Japan, China, Australia, Mexico, and Canada, Sony is raising the price of the PS5. As inflation affects Sony and many other firms, prices are increasing by 10% in Europe and by about 6% in the UK. Sony claims there won’t be a price hike in the US even if PS5 prices are rising throughout the globe.
According to Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, “We’re witnessing high worldwide inflation rates as well as unfavourable currency patterns, hurting consumers and exerting pressure on numerous businesses.” SIE has made the tough choice to raise the recommended retail price (RRP) of the PlayStation 5 in a few territories around Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Asia-Pacific (APAC), Latin America (LATAM), as well as Canada, in light of the current economic circumstances.
With the exception of the Japan hike, which will take effect on September 15th, the new pricing are effective right away. Even though Sony is raising PS5 pricing, there are still supply issues in several areas. In order for as many gamers as possible to enjoy everything that PS5 has to offer and what is still to come, Ryan adds that fixing the PS5 supply issue remains the company’s top goal.
